ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT

SERVICES RENDERED

The Electricity Department provides the following services to the people of Union Territory of Puducherry. According to their needs, the public can approach the concerned officers for availing Services/Particulars in the Electricity Department.

a)	Availing of new service connection to domestic, Commercial, Industrial and agriculture.
b)	Name transfer and shifting of service connection.
c)	Enhancement of load.
d)	Rectification of defective meter.
e)	Change of tariff.
f)	Revision/conversion of current consumption charge bill.
g)	Issue of Power Feasibility Certificate.
h)	If any defects found in distribution of power is to be rectified.
i)	New street lights to be installed on the basis of Municipalities or Commune Panchayats resolution.
*j)	Intimation of appropriate action taken on the petitions received from the public.
**k)	Hearing and readdressal of public grievances and rectification of the complaint.

Apart from the above services, the services (j) and (k) rendered by this Department are as detailed below:

* If the public have addressed their grievances / petitions to the Superintending Engineer- I or Post Box No. 333, Electricity Department, Puducherry the particulars regarding the action on the petition is available from the Public Relation Officer at the I floor, Room No. 102 New Building, Electricity Department, Puducherry.

** Apart from the above services, if the public requires any particulars/services, they can approach the Information Centre” which is exiting near entrance at Main office.

The Electricity Department is divided into Three Circles and functioning under the administrative control of Superintending Engineer-I as Head of Department. The jurisdictional area and address of the Superintending Engineers are given below:-

The Public of Puducherry region who encounter any delay in redressal of their grievances may approach Superintending Engineer-III at the above mentioned address for Solvation. The public living in Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions may approach Superintending Engineer-II at the above mentioned address for solvation of their long pending problems.For the U.T. of Puducherry the Public may approach Superintending Engineer-I.

Puducherry REGION

The Operation and Maintenance of Electricity Department in Puducherry region is under the control of three Divisional Officers as detailed below:-

(a) Executive Engineer-I (Town)	Operation and Maintenance of Town areas.
(b) Executive Engineer-IV (North)	Operation and Maintenance of Rural areas (North).
(c) Executive Engineer-IX (South)	Operation and Maintenance of Rural areas (South).
