2006-07

LIST OF IMPORTANT ON-GOING/PROPOSED CAPITAL WORKS

I. Transmission Scheme works

Establishment of new 230 KV Auto Sub-station at Thondamanatham village in Puducherry at an estimated cost of Rs. 55.00 Crores. The work has been entrusted to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
Establishment of new 33/11 KV Sub-station at Yanam and augmentation of existing 132 KV Yanam Sub-Station at a cost of Rs. 8.78 Crores. The work is being carried out by the Power Grid Corporation of India and is under progress.
Renovation and modernization of existing Marapalam, Kurumbapet and Villianur 110 KV Sub-Stations at a total estimated cost of Rs. 11.60 Crores.
Strengthening of existing Villianur-Bahour 110 KV line at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.00 Crores.
Interlinking of existing 110 KV Sub-Stations with provision of back-up protection relays at an estimated cost of Rs. 30.00 lakhs.

11th Five Year Plan (2007-2012) Schemes:

Establishment of 230 KV Sub-station at Polagam in Karaikal.
Formation of 230 KV grid synchronising proposed 230 KV Sub-station in Karaikal region with 230 KV Sub-stations at Puducherry region.
Establishment of five new 110 KV Sub-stations in Puducherry region, at Venkatanagar, Thirubhuvanaipalayam, Karasur, Thavalakuppam & Lawspet, with capacity addition of 288 MVA and associated transmission lines.

II. Cable Conversion Scheme Works

During the year 2006-07, it has been proposed to lay 5.7 Kms. of HT and 33.0 Kms. of LT under ground cables in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
Thereafter, 1,800 numbers of existing overhead service connections will be converted into under ground system. Simultaneously 150 numbers of street lights will also be converted into under ground cable system.
In order to strengthen the existing power distribtuion system in the Puducherry town area, 5 numbers of new 630 KVA transformers will be erected and the capacity of existing 5 numbers of 315 KVA transformers will be enhanced to 630 KVA.
